elansprint72 Posted May 4, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I'm getting sick of PSE 6 crashing and generally getting more cranky, is anyone here using PSE 8? What do you think?
Advertisement Posted May 4, 2010 Posted May 4, 2010 Hi elansprint72, Take a look here Anyone using PS Elements 8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Latecomer Posted May 5, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 5, 2010 I bought Elements 8 recently and am just coming to terms with it with the aid of the Dummies book. I don't think I will be wearing it out since Lightroom does almost all of what I want. It hasn't crashed yet though, no problems at all. I use it with a Mac running Leopard
hpu Posted May 5, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 5, 2010 Pete, Has similar problems when I changed from Vista to Windows 7. Also I could not share my photo's, as I use now Windows Live Mail. Adobe advised then to get PSE 8. (I found that a rather easy solution from Adobe). So I did used then "Solve compatibility problems", (Trust my translation from Dutch is correctly spelled) which you find with right mouse click on eg. pictograph. And it works now fine ! Did not crash and I can use now Share via Adobe E-mail services.
elansprint72 Posted May 6, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted May 6, 2010 Thanks chaps. PSE 6 took the last train to Clarksville this morning and really lunched itself! I had to uninstall it and then re-install it. Apart from the fact that all my customisations were lost it seems to be behaving, so PSE 8 can wait for a while. I would still be interested in view from other PSE 8 users.
elansprint72 Posted May 9, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted May 9, 2010 Well, after I re-installed PSE6 it worked OK for a while; today the Organiser is corrupt and will not work, Editor still works OK. I'm getting an odd error message, from Windows, not Adobe, telling me that there is no disk and a load of techno-dweeb babble.
andybarton Posted May 9, 2010 Share #6 Posted May 9, 2010 PS Elements 6 is about 4 years old. Old software often has all sorts of compatibility issues. How much would a copy of PSE8 cost you? elansprint72 Posted May 10, 2010 Author Share #7 Posted May 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) PS Elements 6 is about 4 years old. Old software often has all sorts of compatibility issues. How much would a copy of PSE8 cost you? Adobe Photoshop Elements 8 (PC DVD): Amazon.co.uk: Software I know that it is cheap, it is the potential aggravation factor on change-over. When I went from 5 to 6 there was no end of messing about involved, which should not really happen, in an ideal world.
elansprint72 Posted May 29, 2010 Author Share #8 Posted May 29, 2010 Well it lunched itself again; so I let the moths out of my purse and PSE 8 arrived today. I will back everything up (twice) before reading the instructions.
tobey bilek Posted June 3, 2010 Share #9 Posted June 3, 2010 Elements is missing lots of important transactions, runs in only 8 bit so you get banding, and a bunch of other stuff. My free copy drove me crazy.
elansprint72 Posted July 4, 2010 Author Share #10 Posted July 4, 2010 PSE 6 was DOA when I switched on today, so PSE 8 came out of the box and went into the slot...................
tele_player Posted July 8, 2010 Share #11 Posted July 8, 2010 I've been using PSE 8 for several months on a Macbook Pro, with 10.6.2 - it's never done anything unexpected, works great.
Tom M Posted July 25, 2010 Share #12 Posted July 25, 2010 I've been using PSE 8 for several months on a Macbook Pro, with 10.6.2 - it's never done anything unexpected, works great. For an amateur like myself, PSE plus iCorrect Edit serves well. However, I have not been able to upgrade to ACR 6.1 in PSE 8 on the Mac. When attempting to download the ACR PSE version, the site directs me to Windows. How did you do it? t.
elansprint72 Posted August 6, 2010 Author Share #13 Posted August 6, 2010 I've now managed to make PSE8 work approximately how I had configured 6. It does seem much slower when doing some operations but there are some logical changes this time; which is nice.
