I know .... bags get discussed often.

I have the Billingham Leica M Combi Bag, a Domke F-803 Camera Satchel, Think Tank Speed Demon; but I am afraid that none really work if I want to bring a M9, MP, M6TTL , each with a lens attached.

Does anyone recommend a great bag for 3 Leica bodies with lens attached?

I'm a fan of the Domke F2 original , mine is 17 years old and still in use . Soon I 'll buy a black one to use here .I have one in sand color and want to keep that for travelling . Maybe it is a little big for you , but if I walk around with only a bit of gear , I don't use a bag at all .

Red Oxx makes fine products -- I have the C-Ruck and the CPA bag. But the Gator also gets a good write up as a camera bag. You can customize inserts. There are pics showing it with two RFs and pockets for three lenses. You could probably adapt it to fit three cameras with lenses.

Don't forget the Domke J-803 Digital Satchel. I had the canvas model (F-803) for more than 10 years but recently I bought the J-803 which is made of another material (ballistic nylon, which is a bit more "space age" and possibly the reason why they now call it a "digital" satchel). What I like about the J-version is that it has a couple more pockets in it that I find very useful.

Buy the three room insert and your should be able to fit three M-bodies with reasonably sized lenses (Summicron-M/35 or Elmarit-M/28 ASPH)

Domke F-2. Mine's 20+ yrs. old and I just stitched a new strap into it. Will comfortably take three Ms with lenses attached plus another lens, two of the attached can be long(ish) if you have the three compartment insert.

take a look at the relatively new line of soft sided bags from Pelican. Good, sturdy, near

waterproof and sized so they will fit in a hard sided bag and become nearly indestructible.

Not a lot of glammor, a la the Billingham or the Fogg, but a durable price performer that

doesn't scream "steal me". They are sturdier than the Lowepro Omni series of similar

design and cheaper than the Think Tank Urban Deguise 60 which would be my next choice.

Since Billingham discontinued the PhotoEventer - a bigger more luxurious Hadley - and

appear to be discontinuing the 335/445 - I've had to look at some other choices. I also

like the Naneu Pro military series (sierra or tango) which also comfortably hold a laptop and have a unique messenger strap built in.

Bags are so personal you basically just have to pay your money and take your choice.

If you are not into the bigger lenses you can comfortably get three bodies with lenses attached into a Hadley Pro. What lenses would you typically be carrying?

Well you can get 3x medium sized lenses and 3x M bodies into a larger Hadley, if you divide the main compartment into 3x equally sized subs and push in the body and lens as though you were taking a vertical photo. Ditto other similar bags. E.g.

5cm cron,

3.5cm Preasph Lux,

2.8cm Asph Elmarit

with hoods.

If you go dinky lenses you can do the same with the Hadley small. mine has

5cm CV f/2.5 (but a modern Elmar 5cm is smaller collapsed with hood, about 2mm)

3.5cm CV f/2.5

2.8cm Elmarit asph f/2.8 with hood - note there are smaller CV lenses

in main compartment and

21mm CV f/4

25mm CV f/4

Weston meter

5x filters (all yellow)

21mm finder

LH2 hood

in the two front compartments.

The M2s wont trip their shutters jammed in, but a MP or M7 will actuate the meter and batteries, only last a day shooting from 7am until 7pm. I leave the caps off all the lenses all day, the bills separators don't touch the filters.

I don't find the CV lenses have performance issues, it is rare that I use larger than f/5.6, most frames have camera shake, and I don't shoot the lens testing chart, unless I suspect a problem. The larger bags are heavier. I will carry a mono pod for scenic shots.

Thanks everyone

Great advise

I will for now continue to use my M Combi Bag and Domke F-803 until I need more space - then I will likely settle for the Hadley Pro

Thanks

You have a challenging set of requirements because its three bodies with lenses attached . If you pack for a tight fit you will find it difficult to work out of the bag. You will need the Hadley Large for 3 bodies with average lenses attached...they are too big for a Domke J 803. I would be inclined to set up two bodies to be used and the third wrapped as a lens. I might consider keeping it in another piece of carry on luggage if I was traveling. (or a jacket or vest pocket). A third alternative is to wrap it in bubble wrap and put it on top of the other bodies (the bags are tall enough). But none of these work well for a day bag.

You have more options if the third body is separate from the lenses.
