BRJR Posted May 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted May 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I received an email from them, yesterday 01 May 2010, that has this link that describes the lens (says "... especially for use on M9", though I am not believing this until there are some reviews that support it): http://photovillage.com/product.php?productid=3349&cat=0&page=1&featured
Advertisement Posted May 2, 2010 Posted May 2, 2010 Hi BRJR, Take a look here Voigtlander 12mm lens in M-Mount - Available At Photovillage. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
DFV Posted May 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted May 2, 2010 That makes two of us... As far as I have seen all wide angle lenses I have tried on the M9, wether they are Voigtlaender or Zeiss are simply very bad at the edges. They all have color issues at the edges. I know there is software to fix this but I simply like my pictures to look right without the need to process them through special software. If anybody has one at hand and an M9 please give us your feedback.
Realphotos Posted May 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 2, 2010 Off course nothing beats that out of camera perfect photo but you live in a lucky time of using Leica lenses that can be attached to an M9 and have Leica's software make adjustments for you. Off course not all lenses are being adjusted so well yet! My Lux 24 & Wate are still showing a little colour fringinging. However a little patience may bring a further software tweak that may help. I would really appreciate any comments that may bring us up to date here with the current best practice for dealing to fringing Heres an example from a recent walk with my Lux24. (No adjustments made apart from opening DNG in Lightroom 2 and downsizing for web.) Welcome, dear visitor! brill64 Posted May 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2010 it's been out for a little while but i think what they probably mean is that version 2 now has it's own m-mount and accurate rangefinder coupling which the previous version didn't, as well as a fixed lens shade with a whopping 67mm filter thread. it's roughly the same size as the filter attachment designed for the wate 16-18-21 but a little wider and you can't remove it. alas, it doesn't fit that small corner space of your bag anymore, even though it's exactly the same lens configuration under the bonnet as version I. it vignettes a lot and even on the m9 monitor, ca is visible right in the sweet spot. Alnitak Posted May 3, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 3, 2010 I actually got one last week and will be putting together a mini-review of both lenses shortly: the screw-mount and M-mount versions. There are a few other differences than just the mount, but optically they are supposed to be the same. Just a tip: If you use manually code it as the 21mm f/2.8 11134 the vignetting is very minor and the red edge is all but gone. Jeff

brill64 Posted May 4, 2010 Share #7 Posted May 4, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) if there was a 67mm graduated center spot filter that would actually fit this lens it would be more useful and i would consider to buy it. as it is, the filter thread and rangefinder coupling are useful but i feel the fixed lens shade is an ergonomic anomaly. still a great little super-wide on the m9, though. same optics as previous version

See that big auction site for item # 200281416934. I got one. It works pretty well, and the price is right.

Are you using this on the Voigtlander 12mm? If so, did you file down the shade? While the thread is 67mm on that filter, the outside diameter is something greater than 82mm, so I don't know how it would fit. Jeff

I forgot that the filter does, indeed, extend beyond the 67mm thread width, and I erred further in that I use it on a 35mm Grandagon over 6x12 (Horseman SW612). My apologies! (Where was my head?)
