Cornerfix messes up profiles ...

I am trying to create a set of profiles for the Tri-Elmar-M 16-18-21 mm Asph on the M9 using Cornerfix 1.3.0.7 for Windows. When having the profile option 'Use Multiple Equations' ticked then Cornerfix will only create screwed-up profiles. With that option off, the profiles are fine.

Is this a known problem?

Furthermore, how can I enter text for the profile fields 'description', 'creator', and 'copyright'?

I know zip about corner fix, but I would use a radial gradient in photoshop to repair off color corners. It does not change profiles.

I also use color range to make selection of purple and desaturate to fix the M8 issue.

Pain for large volumns, but ok for me.

I think the general advice Sandy has given before is to turn off "use multiple equations."

"Multiple equations" will map out any irregularity in your original image--any texture in the wall, any variation of brightness etc.

Good luck. And Sandy will be around any minute now! :)

As Howard said, "multiple equation" mode will attempt to correct for for virtually any slight imperfection it finds in the image. That works fine if you have a reference image generated from e.g., a very evenly lit (photographic quality) acetate sheet - such sheets cost several hundred dollars a piece, btw. For normal use, where you are using a wall or whatever, multiple equation mode will often give strange results.

As regards setting the copyright, etc, just edit the CPF file with a text editor.

Thanks Howard and Sandy! Indeed I used a white wall with some texture. A hint about this issue in the user documentation would have been useful ... or is it there and I just overlooked it?

When thingking about it, the multiple-equation result looks as if there was some Fourier transformations involved in creating the profiles, right? Can't high-frequency irregulations in the reference image simply be ignored (in a more sophisticated way than by restricting the algorithm to just one equation) when computing the profiles? That would make it more useful in real-world applications. Maybe it could be useful not to offer only the choice between 'one' and 'all' equations but also, say, 'few' and 'many', according to the reference image's quality.

Oh no—when having created a batch of a few dozen profile files then editing each manually is a major pain in the ... rear end. So please consider this feature request for the next version: Add a dialog box or tab to the Profile Creation Options where the user can enter text for the creator's name, profile description, and copyright notice. And for the license, too, in case something else than CC 3.0 is preferred.

No, it's a Levenberg-Marquardt algorithm. In effect, limiting CornerFix to single equation mode does make it ignore high frequency irregularities, by choice of the equation.

Noted, but since CornerFix was released 2007 you're the only person to request that feature - so I'm afraid I wouldn't hold my breath......
