Advertisement Posted April 30, 2010 Posted April 30, 2010 Hi Erik_A, Take a look here Voigtlander 28mm 1.9 Ultron screw mount on M8. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
mikki Posted April 30, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 30, 2010 Hello Erik, I happen to own the 28/1.9 and I really love it on my Leica M8. It's a large lens IMHO, but it's optically better than the newer 28/2. I use it mainly for low-light, when my 28/3.5 is too slow. I removed the hood and replaced the cap with a modern snap-on cap. Without the hood, it doesn't protrudes a lot into the M8 viewfinder. On fullframe it must be a horror ;-) The screwmount poses no problem so far as I know. I have a Voigtlander LTM-adapter, but the cheap Chinese ones work just as well. Just make sure you order the correct framelines. I don't know anything about coding. I haven't coded any of my lenses, but with the newer voigtlander adapters (the ones with the recession) that isn't much of a problem either. I use a Leica IR-cut filter by the way. Hope that helps, Micky

Etruscello Posted April 30, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 30, 2010 I find that for special applications the CV 28 f1.8 works exceptionall well on the M8, with CV screw to M adapter and B&W IR Cut filter. Wide open, this lens has better bokeh than the Summicron 28 -- by my taste: smoother, less contrasty and with the old Leica glow. I think it should always be used at f1.9, but if you need it for landscape work, stop down to f11 for fine results. Tom
