colin_d Posted April 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I recently started posting so thought I should introduce myself. For all my photo life I have used various SLR's, then a stroke of luck recently saw me and an M5, 5 lenses and a swag of Leica oddments come face to face in a second hand store. It was love at first sight but knowing this was a big leap I did some research first then took the plunge after haggling $1000 off the price and coming to grips with needing to sell my Nikon F3 and the ten prime lenses to fund the purchase. Now I realise the M5 is not held in the same aesthetic esteem as it's M cousins, but I am excited about it, mechanically it is superb, and the lenses are tiny compared to my Nikon primes, that is a big positive. Fortunately a few nice lenses came with it: 35mm Summilux, 50mm Summicron, 90mm Tele Elmarit, 90mm Elmar and 135mm Summicron, they should give me great enjoyment. I shoot mostly transparencies but will now dabble in B&W knowing that Leicas are regarded supreme for this medium.

vertekijker Posted April 22, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 22, 2010 I used my M5 for ten years and still have a great fondness for it. There is nothing wrong with its looks, I think. A classic beauty. -------- Frans
