the pod blue

This is an interesting accessory and I have thought it a delightful device since I first read about it.

It does, however, weigh a pound and I think if I planed to carry that much weight and something of this size, I'd opt for the little Leica tripod and ball-head. this device is not only *beautiful* (yeah, what's with these guys, anyway?) but can also be used in vertical positions.

+1 - I agree with braza2013--go for the red pod in terms of size. It's so cheap you could buy both and keep the one you like!

Big picture, I'm with Bill on this one. I recommend the Leitz (original) tabletop tripod and ball head for weight, size, stability, and flexibility for different ways of working--chest-shooting (rifle-ish style) in low light, holding it against a wall tight and shooting sideways, etc. Build quality is outstanding--mine is decades old (feels like early 60s) and looks/functions all but new. Ah. But the price. Lovely, but expensive.

Thanks,

Will

They are the Italian boutique shoe for your Leica.

The function and design of this tripod are so near magical as to have to be called a Leica product. I remember being shown my first one by a proud owner (and non-Leica user) in 1977.

At that time, I was still the parent of young boys -- so still no toys for me. I got this tripod a few years ago on eBay and feel like a wizard among muggles.
