My post about M9 removed

My post on L-Camera that I put my M9 up for sale tonight on craigslist was removed.

My question is "Why was it removed"? What did I do wrong?

I wasn't trying to sell it on this site. I never listed price, etc. I put it on Craigslist to sell it locally because I don't want to fool with shipping, payment, etc

Is it because I said that I didn't like the M9? Is this a forum for only positive opinions?

My reason for posting that I was selling it was to say the M9 is not for everyone.

I now discovered, I like DSLR's better.

I stated that I think the M9 is a great camera, but not for me. I cannot get used to rangfinders.

I have a X1 and will keep it as a companion for my Canon 5DMK ll

Probably a moderator thought it appeared to promote the sale - there is no particular problem with expressing negative views about Leicas or other cameras here (happens all the time ;) ) Presumably one can find wording that avoids the appearance of directing people to the sale site.

I used to like SLRs when they came with split-image focus screens and aperture rings. Fortunately, despite the folks who think all cameras should have the same feature sets, you and I have choices and can each get what we want.

I agree with Andy. There's a Buy and Sell section here; I suspect a mod thought your post read like an advert, particularly one that directed traffic away from this site, and hence not the done thing.

Thanks for your reply's. I had no intention of promoting a sale on this site. As you know, the M9 will sell easily since they are hard to get.

As I stated in the other post, since I will not be using the M9 very much, it cost too much money to let it set in a drawer.

The M9 is a great camera, I just cannot get used to a rangefinder. I got used to and like AF, zoom lens, anti-shake, AE, live view, etc

I bought the M9 because I don't like the size of DSLR's and a menu of 500 options that can select.. I'm keeping the X1 because it has a lot of these features.

Before you sell your M9 be sure to give it a chance. I received mine in early February and had only used SLRs and DSLRs. For the first two months I got an occasional good shot, but much of what I got was junk. The last three weeks things changed. This past weekend I photographed around NYC. Even with SLRs, I never had such a good harvest of photos. While I will continue to use my DSLR for certain things, the color rendition from the M9 was fantastic. The two or three weeks before this outing, I was already beginning to improve my keepers ratio.

To get to this point, I probably took 3,000 or 4,000 photos of walls, street lamps, bicycles on the street, etc just practicing focusing. I had shakes, poor focus, and every other bad thing you can do to a photograph.

Sell if you like--doesn't matter to me, but make sure you have broken the camera in.

Whatever your decision, best of luck.

That's exactly what happened. Unfortunately, I had to go to a hospital appointment this morning, so didn't get a chance to send a PM to the OP regarding the thread.

Forum rules are that no trading, sales or "want to buy"s are allowed in the open forum, as we have a Buy and Sell section especially for that. The very reasonable cost of listing there, together with the ads and individual sponsorships, is what pays the forum bills and keeps the forum free for every member.

Thanks.
