Firmware quirk slowing down X1 ?

I was out today shooting with the X1 and may have stumbled upon a quirk.

I have mine set up with MF, app priority and as I use an external VF have the LCD display permenantly turned off (camera was set to 30 sec review period, although this was of course irrelevant as the vf setting was on, causing the LCD to be blank during shooting)

When pressing the shutter button, the X1 responds almost instantly, taking the picture.

If, however, you leave the camera on but do not take a pic for between 30 and 40 secs the X1 seems (after 30 to 40 secs) to go into a minor hibernation mode. Pressing the shutter button after this period of time causes a c.1 to 2 sec delay as the camera "sorts itself out", and the 30 to 40 sec timer period starts again.

Quite frustrating and I was losing some pics.

I then discovered that the timer also "resets" if you press the info button on the back during the 30/40 sec "countdown"

A little more dabbling caused me to find that this 30 sec timer period was linked to the LCD review period (which can be set to 30 secs or a min) - the 1 min setting causes this timer to count down over a min.

This is probably a battery saving quirk of some kind, but I would at least like the option of delaying further this "hibernation" period !

Yes, this is an irritating quirk of this camera and you have to learn to half press the shutter as you bring it to your eye to get an instant response on this first exposure. After the first one, it takes the camera two or three seconds to fire the shutter for the next one anyway. I was told that Reid Review said 2.73 seconds between shots in single mode. So this is an unusually slow camera by modern standards. I hope Leica can do something in software. For me it is kind of like using one of the old Leicas with the film winding knob. An M7 which I also use is faster.
