Just placed my pre-order with Adobe and paid for Photoshop CS5, and I imagine it will be available for download to computer, if what I read is correct, possibly in early May.

I wonder if same holds true for LR 3. One would assume they'd bring LR 3 and PS5 out at or at roughlky the same time. ?

I also wonder if anyone had had any further insights into whether new M9 owners, who have the code but have NOT used it to download LR2.6, will be able to get LR3 for free when it is available. ? There was much discussion of this a while back but no definitive answers. Maybe someone has new info?

The ACR engine that apparently works so well (less noisy files generated) in LR 3 beta will be included in PS5 BTW.

Andalus I haven't seen any new information. The current best guess seems to be that LR3 may be commercially released at the end of June or later.

If you have LR2.6.1 now you can download and intstall LR2.7 (and ACR 5.7) now in release candidate form to use until then. They both work fine for me currently with no issues.

Is that why CS4 asks me about compatibility issues with ARC 5.x when I import a photo from LR3? I need to go download ARC 5.7 for my CS4 so I'm in compatibility with LR3, don't I? That's also why when I ran update in CS4 it said I was current. I am current, just not beta current, huh?

Edit: Hoppyman, I checked and I'm running ARC 6.0 with LR3 and ARC 5.6 in CS4. I'll update to 5.7 and see what happens when I import from LR3

I went to adobe's download site and read the info and here is what they say. CS4 needs Camera RAW 5.7 to be compatible with LR3 beta.

From Adobe: "Camera Raw 5.7 includes an updated demosaic algorithm designed to provide compatibility with settings applied in Lightroom 3."

If you are running LR3, you apparently need ARC 5.7 for CS4 if you want to be compatible between LR3 and CS4. Camera Raw 5.7 - Adobe Labs

Edit: After downloading ARC 5.7 for CS4, I imported a photo from LR3 (command + E) and CS4 opened and correctly read the LR3 file without the warnings I previously received. So, if you are using LR3 then, you need to download ARC 5.7 release candidate for CS4 if you are going to be importing files from LR3 to CS4.
