A Sfeir Posted April 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Reid Reviews has reviewed the M-Mate in 2008. I just noticed that the one available now from Leicatime Luigi Crescenzi : leica cameras leica compur mp elmar 250 reporter leicavit is quite different. Has anyone used this model? Advertisement Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hi A Sfeir, Take a look here M-Mate Mark II. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
rennsport Posted April 17, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 17, 2010 I have the M-Mate II along with Luigi's half-case with cut-outs for battery & SD card access. The M-Mate's doors are magnetically secured, and is well made though the finish is matte black. It's not the same semi-gloss finish as Leica's base plate, but that doesn't bother me too much. When used with his own case, they work well together to get quick access to the battery and the card.
A Sfeir Posted April 17, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 17, 2010 Thanks. This is exactly what I needed to know since the first version had a different kind of lock according to Reid Reviews.
sblutter Posted April 20, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 20, 2010 Love it With the MMII, there's no reason to take the bottom plate off anymore - and much easier to remove cards while on a tripod to check results. Changing batteries on the fly is now one handed - much better. I assume Leica will adopt a similar configuration with the next version - and make the tripod bolt more secure. I'm not in love with the camera relying on a small metal tab. The nod to M3 design is cute but not functional. Congrats Luigi - and thanks for the fast delivery!! papimuzo Posted April 20, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 20, 2010 I'm using the M-Mate 2 as well. Working perfectly, changing memory cards (I work with "small" cards 1 Gb only) is a quick-and-good action. Since I use this add I gave up the standard half-case I had. On Luigi site I only fount the picture with cut-out for SD card. Thank you in advance

alexc Posted April 21, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 21, 2010 Thank you for posting. Is it the new case or the old one was fixed to accommodate M-Mate?
rennsport Posted April 21, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 21, 2010 Thank you for posting. Is it the new case or the old one was fixed to accommodate M-Mate? Alex, It's a new case. I ordered this case and the M-Mate II together, specifying to Luigi that I'd like to have the case with the two cut outs as shown.
Shade Posted April 22, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 22, 2010 Wondering if the luigi leathercase with the openable bottom or sd and battery door, will they get loose over time and flap all over? Just a concern..

Hacker Posted April 23, 2010 Share #12 Posted April 23, 2010 I actually found the Mate II to be more flimsy than the stock Leica base plate. Even the paint job is wanting. But wrapped with the case, it does not really matter.
