vikasmg Posted April 16, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 16, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I remember something like this being posted here before but I can't find it any more. My M9 occasionally has a thin vertical line of pixels which appear to be dead. It is a thin vertical line in the middle of the frame (The attached image is slightly rotated so the line doesn't appear quite vertical, and because of the reduced size it is barely noticeable but the arrow points to it). I'd appreciate any ideas as to what is causing this and how I can fix it? Thanks in advance. - Vikas
Advertisement Posted April 16, 2010 Posted April 16, 2010 Hi vikasmg, Take a look here That occasional line of dead pixels. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
adli Posted April 16, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 16, 2010 Could be the line you get when you have dead a dead pixel. Had it on my M8, before Solms replaced the sensor. Try to shoot several pictures in row at high ISO at a dark subject. This should make the it more visible if it is a hot pixel. Look for red pixels in the dark and stripes through the pixel. For some strange reason it is more visible in C1 than in LR which seems to render out the red pixels.
vikasmg Posted April 16, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted April 16, 2010 I'll try that this evening, thanks for the suggestion. Though it would seem to be a whole line rather than a single pixel. - Vikas
adli Posted April 16, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 16, 2010 Yes, but the stripe is caused by one stuck pixel (assuming this is a stuck pixel fault). Probably in the read out process, but I am sure there are people here who can tell you more about the technical causes than me.
Shade Posted April 16, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 16, 2010 Get it fixed.. You'll never know if the problem will spread or whatnot..
dan113 Posted April 16, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 16, 2010 When I received my new M9 (jan 2010), every image showed a stuck pixel with a fine red line partly above and below the pixel, from the very first picture, always same place... The camera was sent to Leica by dealer for a pixel remapping, came back 10 days later and everything is fine now. Take a look at Pixel Fixer | Hot pixel removal utliity It may be a useful tool for a M9 pixel problem (...did'nt try it myself because not available for Mac OS) . Daniel Dear Daniel, Adli, Shade Thank you all for your replies. I think I had better take it in to the Leica distributor here to have the problem fixed. - Vikas
