nigelb Posted April 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Alas I am selling my D-Lux 4. I would like to keep it but now that I am using the D2 and LC1 almost exclusively, it is superfluous to requirements. At least it turned me onto Leica and drew me towards the D2, which I am grateful for. It is on fleabay at the moment and someone has contacted me to ask if the Capture 1 software has been used and loaded onto my computer because "Leica wont transfer the capture one without the new owner paying" - his words. It has been loaded onto my laptop and activated but I understand I can deactivate it from my computer to allow it to be loaded onto another. Has anyone who has sold their D-lux 4 or bought a D-Lux 4 secondhand come across this when buying or selling their cameras. If I deactivate before selling can the new owner load and activate Capture 1 on their computer? Any advice appreciated. Nigel

Nigel I am trying to find this out myself as I have bought a D-Lux 4 used and am having a problem activating the S/W. I have contacted the original owner and he is going to deactivate it. Then I will see if I can re-activate it.
andybarton Posted May 3, 2010 Share #3 Posted May 3, 2010 My understanding is that Capture One is not transferable to a new owner, even if the first deletes it.
ho_co Posted May 3, 2010 Share #4 Posted May 3, 2010 Andy is probably right, but check with Phase One. They produced the software and administer its licensing. And do let us know what you find out.
lagrassa Posted May 4, 2010 Share #5 Posted May 4, 2010 Yes, in talking to Phase One Tech Support, the license is NOT transferable.
