AndyUK Posted April 12, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 12, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi all, recently joined and now the happy owner of an M7 and M8. At the moment my only glass is a 6 bit encoded Summicron-M 50/2. I've been advised to use a UV/IR filter with the M8. Any suggestions about filters i.e. quality / price trade-off? Thanks in advance! epand56 Posted April 12, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 12, 2010 B+W filters are about half the price of Leica's and are working great. I have both and see no difference. eBay is a good place where to find them at a reasonable price.
artur5 Posted April 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 14, 2010 According to most sources, Leica UV/IR filters are made by B+W, although they aren't exactly like the units sold under the B+W brandt. For practical effects, both should perform likewise. Heliopan is another very good option.
