Annibale G. Posted April 9, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 9, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello everyone, I bought a new Leica M 28mm f/2 from Leica dealer in Rome. Using it at first it seems to me the focusing ring it's hard to move compared to the others M lenses I have. Is it normal? Do I have to worry about it? Thanks. Annibale G. Posted April 12, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted April 12, 2010 No one has experienced that or can tell me something about it?
SJP Posted April 12, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 12, 2010 I must admit I have never noticed any unusual focussing ring stiffness in my 28/2 ASPH - seems smooth enough to me. On the other hand most of my other Leica lenses are pretty old, so I can't really compare to other modern glassware.
Annibale G. Posted April 13, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted April 13, 2010 mm don't know what to say. It's less smooth than the others lenses I have, don't know why, maybe because it's new or in worse condition something is wrong with it.
menos I M6 Posted April 13, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 13, 2010 My 28 Cron is one of the heavier to focus lenses. It is exceptionally smooth though. When I bought mine, there has been another almost new sample, which I did not buy, which again was even heavier to focus. Both samples though are exceptionally smooth. I suppose the 28 Cron runs in, similiar to the 50 Lux after some time. I would only worry, if it feels "scratchy".
Annibale G. Posted April 13, 2010 Author Share #6 Posted April 13, 2010 Luckily it's just heavier, not scratchy. What hood huh?! :-)

Jeff_S here on the forum tipped me off, to use the lens hood from the 35 Lux ASPH for the 28 Cron ASPH. I finally got one of these and must say, it works much better than the original 28 hood. It is smaller, tighter, fits much tighter without wobbling around as well.
