markpsf Posted April 7, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 7, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) This is in the AAGH category! I am trying to put a lens hood on my 35mm Summarit lens. I remove the ring from the lens and the hood screws on fine but then is unbelievably loose and moves continually. What am I missing? Thanks. markpsf Posted April 7, 2010 Author Share #2 Posted April 7, 2010 Spoke with a Leica/USA Tech person. This is a not uncommon problem. Design flaw with some of the hoods. He is "hopeful" Leica will correct this and suggested I contact him periodically to find out what's happening re a replacement. Meanwhile, back at the patch and paste ranch, I'm using a couple of thin strips of effectively adhesive transparent tape to hold it in place. I prefer that to using PTEF tape on the inside, as suggested by a user on another forum. Seems crazy to have to do that with Leica equipment but I'm more a pragmatist than a purist. And railing about Leica's imperfections is a waste of energy. Lovely lens. This is a decent temporary fix. Mark
Big T Posted April 8, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 8, 2010 I have the same Summarit 35mm and lens hood..... My Hood is firm but not tight..... But it is tight enough in that it requires finger pressure to move... Love this lens and hood by the way (takes 80% of my pics..)...
