Advertisement Posted April 7, 2010 Posted April 7, 2010 Hi TonyG44, Take a look here paper recommendations. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Shootist Posted April 7, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 7, 2010 Never heard of it. It all depends on the printer and ink you are using as to what type of paper to use. With most older printers and papers, from the time of that post/link they use dye inks. Today most GOOD photo printers use pigment inks and you need to use papers made for pigment inks. I've been very happy with RedRiver papers. Not sure if they are available in the UK. At least at a good cost.

Don't know who sells the gloss film in the UK, though. It has its disadvantages, but resolution and contrast are the main appeal. But for black and white pigment printing these days, try some of the newer Baryta Fiber gloss papers from Harmon (now Hahnemuhle, I think) and especially the newest Canson Baryta too (that's the one I want to try)! Guest WPalank Posted April 7, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 7, 2010 A Tale of Two Papers I'm a fan of the Hahnemuhle Barytas (Fine Art and PhotoRag, both glossy). On the off chance I got the chance to pick up the Hahnemuhle FB Baryta sheet paper and had the same experience as Mr. Reichman. The paper was MAGENTA. Fortunately, I was able to return it for a full refund. The new Harmon Hahnemuhle line is being introduced as we speak. I'm looking forward to seeing it. Jeff S Posted April 7, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 7, 2010 Hahnemuhle Photo Rag Pearl and Photo Rag Baryta are my two favorite b&w papers (both glossy, but reminiscent of my old silver papers). Jeff
Jamie Roberts Posted April 7, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 7, 2010 Yeah, William, I've only ever actually used the Harmon Photo Gloss Baryta, which is excellent, but when I was at WPPI it look like they'd been bought by Hahnemuhle.... The Canson stuff looks awesome; there were quite a few papers I wanted to try
olivers73 Posted April 8, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 8, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hello Harman (not Harmon) was NOT bought Hahnemühle. The two companies will only work together to produce and sell the "Harman InkJet Professional line". The new collection of Harman professional papers are made by both companies and the sales were made via Hahnemühle. Both companies are working for themselve, these partnership is also only for "Inkjet professional" - the other lines like "Christal RC" were sold by Harman as they do in the past. --> Hahnemühle FineArt - Harman There are 7 qualities in the line, 2 of them are well known Harman FB AL (now Gloss Baryta) and Harman FB AL warmtone (now Gloss baryta warmtone). The other 5 qualities are new in the line. regards Oliver

Happy to hear (I guess) that's not the case.
