X1 skin ailment

You're missing nothing Richard. We are annoyed (and disappointed) because we purchased an 'expensive' Leica product - camera or binoculars - with the expectation of Leica excellence. We then found the skin to be peeling or the battery door faulty. My experience is two in three of the X1s I had were faulty. My third has only the slightest peeling on one corner. But I just can't be bothered to take this one back. Complaint fatigue . . .

What do we want? Leica making a big public announcement about it or start a billboard campaign with the 'skin man' from the factory clubbed to death on the parking lot?...

If what I think is true, and Leica is making people do without their very expensive cameras because of their own bad but deliberate decisions, then they should 'fess up (but they won't for obvious reasons). I think they realized they weren't meeting demand for the X1 and ordered a "just get it done" to the production line, where those skins are glued on by hand. So you speed up the hand gluing and guess what happens?
