jamriman Posted April 2, 2010 Share #1 Posted April 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) How many are going to sell there 35 lux ASPH in favor of the new one? I'll be on the lookout for a used ASPH pre. Thanks.
Advertisement Posted April 2, 2010 Posted April 2, 2010 Hi jamriman, Take a look here New 35 lux?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
lars_bergquist Posted April 2, 2010 Share #2 Posted April 2, 2010 I have already done that. I have a newly refurbished and coded v.4 Summicron that is just lovely on the M9. When the new Summilux arrives -- probably at this year's Photokina -- I will take a long hard look at it, and *maybe* buy it. I don't shoot Kodachrome 25 or Technical Pan anymore, so my need for Summilux speed is not what it has been. peter_n Posted April 2, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 2, 2010 I'm with Lars. I sold mine in January to get a decent price and because I've been using the Summicron ASPH in preference, to be honest. I too will take a hard look at the new one when it's released.
noah_addis Posted April 2, 2010 Share #4 Posted April 2, 2010 I'll never sell mine. I'd be more likely to sell the 'Cron but that seems unlikely too. The current 35 Summilux Asph is a wonderful lens and I prefer its look to some of the more modern lenses.
adli Posted April 2, 2010 Share #5 Posted April 2, 2010 A couple of days ago, I run into a photographer with a 35 lux from the 60s. What struck me was that is was almost as small as my cron v4. Does anyone know how this lens performs on the M9?
thrice Posted April 2, 2010 Share #6 Posted April 2, 2010 My gorgeous mint condition chrome lux asph just went away for a complete CLA and coding. I don't think I'll sell it, but stranger things have happened.
JWW Posted April 2, 2010 Share #7 Posted April 2, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I sold mine since I prefer the size and, even more, the weight, of the summicron and didn't use the lux as much. But I am on a waiting list for the new one.
andreas_thomsen Posted April 2, 2010 Share #8 Posted April 2, 2010 i will keep my for sure as i don't like the bokeh of the new leica lenses. especially the nw nocti has no charme cheers andy
dseelig Posted April 2, 2010 Share #9 Posted April 2, 2010 I do not know will have to wait for the reviews. I have had the 1st aspherical and the 2nd now. I have a titanuim one it works well. Sharp wide open I have not had focus shift troubles. David
innerimager Posted April 2, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 2, 2010 I won't be selling mine. It is an exceptionally good lens with a great balance of the "newer" aspherical look with not too much contrast, and lovely bokeh. Dead sharp at 1.4 and all apertures to f8 which is as stopped as I ever shoot it, in fact I tend to stay between 1.4 and 2.8, but as I've said many times, focus shift is simply not a practical concern with my sample. If ever there was a time for "if it ain't broke, don't sell it and invest lot's more money for a replacement", this is that time for me! best...Peter
Jamie Roberts Posted April 2, 2010 Share #11 Posted April 2, 2010 My 35 Lux would be one of the last lenses to go, even if Leica did something wild like make a 35 Nocti ASPH
Alnitak Posted April 2, 2010 Share #12 Posted April 2, 2010 No one even knows if there *will* be a new one yet...why would anyone sell what they have and presumably use now?
Freedolin Posted April 2, 2010 Share #13 Posted April 2, 2010 No one even knows if there *will* be a new one yet I was told so by Leica customer service in Solms months ago already. So, I guess it's safe to assume a new 35 Lux is more than a rumor. -- Markus
swamiji Posted April 2, 2010 Share #14 Posted April 2, 2010 I was told so by Leica customer service in Solms months ago already. So, I guess it's safe to assume a new 35 Lux is more than a rumor. -- Markus It's never safe to assume anything... that aside, even IF the rumors are true. How long before we see one? Two, three years?
Jeff S Posted April 2, 2010 Share #15 Posted April 2, 2010 I sold mine since I prefer the size and, even more, the weight, of the summicron and didn't use the lux as much. But I am on a waiting list for the new one. Gotta love this forum sometimes. Jeff
Freedolin Posted April 2, 2010 Share #16 Posted April 2, 2010 How long before we see one? Two, three years? They said "soon". Sounds more like this year to me. -- Markus
Rick Posted April 2, 2010 Share #17 Posted April 2, 2010 I'm first on my dealer's list for the new Lux 35 so, I've already started working on my review of this exciting new lens. I know that a lot of people here on the forum will be pleased to know that my review will include a section on the disappointing characteristics of the lens and what I'd like to see in the next version. swamiji Posted April 2, 2010 Share #18 Posted April 2, 2010 They said "soon". Sounds more like this year to me. -- Markus Ah, your in Germany... This year for you, perhaps one to each dealer in the EU. The rest of us, next year at best. Should be about the same pattern as the new Nocti. Shade Posted April 3, 2010 Share #19 Posted April 3, 2010 Probably the new one will add a floating element and probably thats about the changes. More expensive price I assume as well. However i wont be selling mine in favor of the new one, since I have no shift issues on my current one, or any other issues for that matter..
Arif Posted April 3, 2010 Share #20 Posted April 3, 2010 I do not know will have to wait for the reviews. I have had the 1st aspherical and the 2nd now. I have a titanuim one it works well. Sharp wide open I have not had focus shift troubles. David Seems we have a similar lens collection. I too have the Aspherical, but sold the ASPH to buy the M9 and still keep my titanium for size. For me, the difference between the first and second in quality was small and I preferred the Aspehrical since I had used it longer and a well worn lens has that familiarity.
