abethecat Posted March 31, 2010 Share #1 Â Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I apologize for my mistake to use the forum to advertise a site that is about Leica X1. It was not my intention to draw visitors away from this excellent site. Everything was just an idea that escalated too far.

No need to apologize, I know your intentions were noble, we will think of something. Someone had suggested a sub-thread? in another section here? I think it is worth exploring. Panchen Lama Posted April 1, 2010 Share #4 Â Posted April 1, 2010 What about just a gallery of images submitted by X1 users and selected and uploaded by you, just for fun and leaving the forum part out.. Surely that wouldn't be in competition with this site?
damnsharp Posted April 1, 2010 Share #5 Â Posted April 1, 2010 No problems m8! And what Panchen Lama said could be an idea. But otherwise I post my daily photo's at blipfoto.com and sometimes at flickr.com

h00ligan Posted April 1, 2010 Share #11 Â Posted April 1, 2010 Out of curiosity and meant only with the best intentions - many have links to sites in their signature - would a link to your site in the signature be out of order? Just trying to find the line so that I don't accidentally anger the powers that be in the future!

eduardoho Posted April 2, 2010 Share #13 Â Posted April 2, 2010 I know this is an open Forum, and there is no exclusivity meaning that everyone has the right to post their opinions and comments. But I definitely welcome the idea to hear from fellow end users of X1. I really want to share true first hand experiences, however good ... however stupid.... however perverted; not to fantasize of what X1 should or should not be. I got a X1 in my hands and I use it everyday, I learned to work around its shortcomings. Some interesting features/experiences about the X1 which I want to share: I have found out that the LED screen is made of hardened Plexiglass w/anti glare coating so there is no need for protective film, besides it is a serviceable item. That the Giottos SP8207 glass is in reality a fancy trade name for polycarbonate film, and there will degradation with respect to opacity & transmissibility. I have mated X1 with a nonLeica strobe light, the Metz 28CS2 which allowed me a GN of 46ft (@ ISO200, f2.8 & 1/60. The snap on cap lens is a crap and it will fall off (mine snapped off and I stepped on it!!!); so I modified the OEM cap and now it can be tethered. The Elmarit lens is of sufficient MOHS hardness to withstand the rigors of everyday use, and it is multi-coated, thus may be there is no need for UV/protective filters? I have used the timed delay set @ 2 sec to prevent blurring and taken shots with no blur @ISO3200, f2.8 with speed all way down to 1/4 sec holding breath. That the leather case Leica Product 18709 is a dog unfit for X1's use. This is kind of stuff that I really want to hear based on actual experiences. I have NO patience for those who presents a dissertation of X1's technical specifications in minutia and then compares the X1 to M8/M9 series, if you want read an in depth good technical review go to lensTip.com. Â Anybody got any ideas what to wish for if a firmware upgrade is made available right now? (which I doubt very much, but...)
