mby Posted March 31, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 31, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Maybe somebody here could help me: My Elmarit-M 1:2.8/21mm's hood has a slight problem: apparently, it lost one of the springs from inside of the bayonet. Leica CS in Solms told me that this can't be fixed, but maybe somebody from the forum has any idea? - WIthout the spring, the hood sometimes moves slightly, which is more of annoyance than an issue, but still... Thanks for your kind help and best regards, Michael P.S.: Correction, it is #12537, of course!
Advertisement Posted March 31, 2010 Posted March 31, 2010 Hi mby, Take a look here Leica/Leitz Lens Hood #12543 Problem. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
tobey bilek Posted March 31, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 31, 2010 All those shades in my opinion are a fragile design. I put them on and leave them that way. The "cap" is a bag with elastic top that goes over the shade. Homemade. Been working for 20 years
menos I M6 Posted April 4, 2010 Share #3 Posted April 4, 2010 For those among us with some engineering curiosity, some good closeup photos of the actual issue might help, to get your problem sorted out. If you are missing a part of the hood assembly, I would do some writing effort up to the right person at Leica, who could provide you this item out of their production line. This would not be handled on any official way, as Leica unlikely maintains a servicing and repair program for lens hoods, but instead switches the entire hood, when partly broken. Additionally, it is likely, that Leica subcontracts the part production and assembly of the hoods, leading to another location and company having to supply for your missing spring. You could find out a person, who is willing to take care of your issue and mail a free return mail, so somebody could get the part for you. If you could redo the spring by yourself - don't bother. If the costs for a new hood are not high for you - don't bother.
