innerimager Posted March 30, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 30, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have a line on a sweet DR cron, with eyes. I know it will mount on my M3, I hear the eyes won't fit on the M5 unless a piece is removed, and I haven't heard about the M7. Any experience out there, especially with the M5? thanks...Peter

doubice Posted March 30, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 30, 2010 I have a line on a sweet DR cron, with eyes. Not much of an issue really, the only purpose of the piece is positioning. When removed, the eyes still line up correctly. As to the M7 - it has a taller body than the M2, M3, M4, M6 (classic) etc. Same issue as with the M5. All M6TTL and M7 bodies are slightly taller and the stopper pin will have to be removed. Not difficult and fully reversible. Best, Jan
innerimager Posted March 30, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted March 30, 2010 Thanks Jan. So if I remove it for use on the M5, can it stay off when used on an M3? (Sounds like yes). Do you know if the pin is screwed on? I appreciate the assist very much....Peter
innerimager Posted March 30, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted March 30, 2010 I found a picture of the eyes and I think I see what you mean. There is a small black thingy that sits just to the left of the circular glass on the eye projecting in toward the camera. I assume it hits up against the M5. It looks like it's just a screw holding it in place. So if that's all there is to using the eyes on the M5, no big deal at all. Thanks again...Peter
sulskyr Posted March 30, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 30, 2010 I have a DR Summicron and an M7, an M4 and an M3 (and previously owned an M5). Sacrilege though it may be, I sliced off the black stopper with a razor blade. The lens works without any problem on all four cameras.
Philippe D. Posted March 30, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi Jan. ... a small black stopper pin has to be removed so that the eyes can be attached. Not much of an issue really, the only purpose of the piece is positioning.Actually, this little bakelit stopper is there to prevent disassembling the lens with the google on M3 and M2. Because the google would damage, or be damaged by, the little "R" lever. This lever dot is not as protuberant on the M4-2 and latter. This stopper is glued and screwed. It is very fragile. So take it out with great care. Too bad to destroy it.

Xmas Posted March 30, 2010 Share #8 Posted March 30, 2010 Hi As well as the stop knob, I'm told that some DR will foul on the M6 meter sensor baffle assembly. I'd suggest trying one carefully without film and with back door open. Noel
Robert J Posted March 31, 2010 Share #9 Posted March 31, 2010 Since the "eyes" are often available for sale On THE AUCTION site,it might be worthwhile purchasing one to modify and use on the M5 and M8.
sulskyr Posted April 3, 2010 Share #10 Posted April 3, 2010 I should add that I never mount or remove the DR lens with the close-up adapter in place. I only addt or remove the adapter when the lens is already mounted on the camera.

I only addt or remove the adapter when the lens is already mounted on the camera. Yes, I do the same way and always set up to infinity! I just unscrewd the "black pin". Lens is working fine on M7 and also on the M3.
innerimager Posted April 3, 2010 Author Share #12 Posted April 3, 2010 I got the lens and have been shooting it with my M3, also with the M9 only in close focus range. Haven't removed the stopper yet but will do so and use it on the M5/7 as well. Great lens.
