AlanG Posted March 29, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 29, 2010 Announced on Apple site. Apparently able to import RAW into iPad. Unsure if it will work with M9, but only a matter of time! iPad Camera Connection Kit - Apple Store (U.S.) Pretty stupid to have to deal with two largish adapters. Including a USB port and a card reader into the iPad was a no brainer. I bet the HP Slate will have these and a camera too.

I bet the HP Slate will have these and a camera too. Buy the HP Slate then.

I bet the HP Slate will have these and a camera too. I agree, this is the major reason I have chosen not to buy an iPad v1.
sanyasi Posted March 29, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 29, 2010 For those who are thinking about buying the iPad in the near future because of the RAW capability, be careful. It is unclear to me what RAW means. Does it mean Canon's CRW files, Nikon's version of RAW files, or DNG files? As people found out with Lightroom a month or two ago, Leica's DNG files created a problem until Adobe issued a software patch. I have an Apple store about ten minutes from my house. Before I buy the iPad, I am taking an SD card with Leica M9 DNG files on it to the store and seeing whether they will display on the iPad without extra software. silverlight99 Posted March 29, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 29, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Could be a great device for viewing pictures on, but storage will be a practical limitation in my view with Leica RAW files given their size and the very limited storage available on Rev1 of the iPad. I've got a 64GB on order, but after storage of music and a few videos (or even if none at all), it's application would be limited. Also agree that it's a question mark as to how the photo app will deal with the RAW files. they really should have included an SD port on the device for extra storage! (but that's just a profit maximization decision I assume)
