Advertisement Posted April 6, 2010 Posted April 6, 2010 Hi scc, Take a look here Luigi Half-Case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
ezc203 Posted April 6, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted April 6, 2010 I'm sorry to hear that SCC. It also took me a while to get my first reply (2 weeks or so), but after I got in touch with Luigi, the process was extremely fast. Hope you get in touch with him soon! Try to send him a message through eBay, that is a good alternative to emailing him.
plasticman Posted April 6, 2010 Share #23 Posted April 6, 2010 Got my Luigi case today! Super fast service (from 1st reply to receiving package, less than a week). In love with his work. I would strongly recommend it to anyone who's looking into getting a half-case. ... Yes - IF he answers his mails that is. Congrats on getting yours - but it's actually really annoying not to get any answer when I've ordered from him in the past. Who knows anything about the other suppliers of straps? I think it's time to give someone else a chance... (though that looks like a wait is also involved)
ezc203 Posted April 6, 2010 Author Share #24 Posted April 6, 2010 Personally, I am partial to Luigi's cases because of that "bump" he puts in his standard cases. It really adds to the whole handling of the camera. In terms of straps, I really like Artisan and Artist* straps. Their whole range of straps (Silk cord, cloth cord, leather straps) are all excellent and I kind of like them better than the Luigi ones. Its smoother and softer. And the convenience of A&A* is that popflash in Cali does have a steady stream of supplies.
plasticman Posted April 7, 2010 Share #25 Posted April 7, 2010 Well I finally got a reply from Luigi - he was quite offended at my impatient tone, and rightly so. Apparently he has 3000 unanswered mails and is working round the clock to get orders out on time. Seems to me he should raise his prices. My order will be posted quote: "tomorrow, or the day after...", and apparently registered post from Italy to Sweden can take "10 to 15+ days". Now I remember why I chose Fedex delivery last time. Guido Posted April 7, 2010 Share #26 Posted April 7, 2010 nightfire - Are you suggesting Artisan and Artist*? I do like their straps and have one, but their case design does not suit my fancies. No, I was referring to Mr. Zhou from Shanghai, from whom I bought a case for my M9 in January. The quality of Mr. Zhou's craftmanship was outstanding, as was communication and speed of delivery.

Has nobody bothered to read the note on his website, btw? It explains why he is so far behind on filling orders. Regards, Bill
ezc203 Posted April 7, 2010 Author Share #28 Posted April 7, 2010 My explanation for why I prefer the Luigi over the A&A* can also be applied to the Zhou. Luigi is probably just busy with a ton of orders, but I can say with confidence that his cases are the golden standard, and definitely worth the wait. Guido Posted April 7, 2010 Share #29 Posted April 7, 2010 Luigi rip-offs. Not a patch on the real thing. "Rip-off" for some, "competition" for others... Either way, for those still undecided, this thread on rangefinderforum.com compares the Zhou and Luigi cases, and contains a lot of user opinion as well. Brent1965 Posted April 8, 2010 Share #30 Posted April 8, 2010 For those Luigi case & strap users - hunt down some of that coxy no 19 clear leather cream he recommends - rub some on, leave it a couple of hours and buff abit - it takes them to a whole new level of suppleness .
