I'm not sure that anything has quite the superb quality of Reala. When I'm on holiday with a couple of zooms (21-35 and 28-90 R) I simply use the Fuji Superia Extra 400. It gives good results, but Reala it ain't.

I use Fuji 400H when I want to use colour negative film, which isn't very often these days.

I shot some this afternoon, as it happens :)

It's a nice film, though. I have never got on with Reala.

Kodak Portra 400 is the best 400 speed color neg I have ever used.

Don`t overly worry about the pro catagory. I have had some in a camera 6 months and it turned out fine. It was also outdated before I started. All the film photos were back up for a Nikon D200 APS C slr.

Honestly the film looked as good as the base iso 100 Nikon stuff.

Give it a try.

The greatest variance is in the post process. Next is the sort of local light you are shooting in. If you get on with fuji, then stick with it. Absolutely nothing wrong with it.

Depends on what you are going for - Reala is unique but the other Fuji neg stock is cool as well - I agree with some of the comments on the Portra - it is really "good" in the traditional Kodak good kind of way. I tend to like Kodak BW but Fuji color. Then again I am a black and white guy - if you want accurate or accurate + a tiny bit more primary staturation go with Kodak Portra - If you want something "creative" go with almost any of the Fuji color neg 400 or 800 and if you want to see COLOR and a smoooooth but sharp rendering overexpose it by a stop. I have buddies that quite literally make a fantastic living shooting weddings with the Fuji 400 and 800 overexposed by a stop. Of course they are great photographers to but it does have a unique look, esp w/ liberal exposure.
