bad robot Posted March 28, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 28, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) At last my X1 has arrived. Apparently I have the first on in Cornwall. The Voigtlander VF works very well, and it looks perfect on the X1. My first impressions are (taking into account the numerous comments on this forum) It felt slightly heavier in my hands, than I was expecting. It certainly feels well built. The dials are feather light to the touch, but at the same time still feel like precision engineering. I like to consider the setting before every picture anyway, so getting into the habit of checking before pressing the shutter is not a problem for me. I work with the screen off, and “chimp” infrequently. I hope this will extend the battery life. The manual states that it needs to be completely exhausted 2 or three times and fully recharged before full capacity is reached. So I can’t comment on this yet. I don’t like having to take Jpgs and DNGs at the same time. A future firmware should correct this. Lag is variable. There are times when it was hardly noticeable. Other times the camera struggled to “lock on”. I noticed on a few occasions while the X1 was struggling, releasing my finger and giving the shutter button another half press allowed focusing within half a second. But with practice this should become much less of an issue. I really have not taken any photos yet that are worth posting. I‘ll keep bonding with it X1 in the mean time. I like it a lot…
