X1 not shipping pending firmware upgrade - true?

Don't you think it is too premature for any firmware update? What is wrong with current v.1.0? I haven't detected any obvious bugs in the algorithm, yes the AF is lethargic and the refresher rate could be made more responsive. But I have also not experienced any freeze ups either. Leica is not a software company, and I have to give credit to Leica for what they done so far, i.e. X1 got a fairly well balanced user friendly program. Whatever CPU they got inside the X1 it has been max'ed out for maintaining IQ, which it has accomplished remarkably well.

Yes, OMG is right...and make us pay 100 bucks for a pre-installed SD card with firmware update. For firmware update, I envision that you will download a zipped file from Leica website, just like the one for dLux4, that once you have opened it got a executable command which in turn you sync via USB cable. Of course it would be nice for the Adobe Lightroom to search latest updates and tell us automatically! The exec file first order of business is to wipe clean the internal RAM before installing the updated firmware. My peeve is that an AC mains (siamesed into the USB cable) not was included, and God forbid if you don't have a fully charged up battery during the firmware update, typically if that happens to you, you will lobotomize the X1 and will effectively render your babe useless by not having an operational system. Is the AC mains offered in any other market within the scope of delivery or yet available as accessory?

It should just work. Fire it up and point and shoot. Far too complex for me otherwise. ;)

I would envisage downloads would be free for a while (as with computer OS updates), but presumably not forever.

I'll stay optimistic and wait and see. In the meantime, the M6 is working perfectly and needs no software updates whatsoever. ;)

Then there's that trusty M4-P I once owned and loved to use: it never needed batteries (unlike the M5 and all following cameras.)
