A woman in a business suit walked up to me and asked "Is that a Holga?" It surprised me a bit and I didn't know what to say, so I just said "yes". To add to the mix of stories, I was out with my M one evening in a red-light district and a woman, let's say, in a different kind of business suit, came up to me and said, "Oooh, is that a Leica?!" " That used to happen to me all the time, especially when I was shooting with a DSLR and large zoom or 300/2.8. A colleague of mine used to answer that he was shooting for the radio! HaHa, Reminds me of one youngster who asked what TV station I worked for. I answered that I didn't work for any TV station. He looked at me and asked, "What radio station do work for ??". I just looked back and forth at the 2 Nikon F3s and him for about 2 minutes and finally asked him what would a radio station need photos for. He just looked back at me for a bit, didn't say anything, and finally I told him I worked for the local newspaper. All he said was "Oh", and I still wasn't sure that he got it. brill64 Posted March 26, 2010 Share #16 Posted March 26, 2010 earlier this month, I spent four days shooting a beautiful house and garden for a famous uk interior decorator and I was using the m9 as backup for loosely recording mostly detail images complimenting main views captured on a leaf digital back. she frequently referred to my m9+35 summilux as, "could you just get that with your cheapo camera?":rolleyes: needless to say, the results from the m9 leave me amazed.. By no stretch of the imagination does any Leica M camera look cheap!O yes it does (they do) for 99.99998% of the population. When I saw my first Leica (M2) it looked rather unimpressive to me. I only "got it" after seeing the pictures. Since then I have also come to appreciate the camera design but it was not love at first sight and certainly not an "exclusivity" factor.
