I have got this leathercase from ebay. What was it used for? Please help me, to get some information.

Engraving on top: E.Leitz Inc Rockleigh New Jersey USA

on bottom:# I Top Grain Cowhind Made in USA

In shoutens link is said: seldom case for 21mm or 28mm len. Production year?

I think, this is the solution:

This leather-cases were made in different seizes; I II III and IV.

They were not dedicated to a special lens or article.

I have several of those leather Leica lens cases. The leather is of good quality, but the red plush lining leaves something to be desired - sometime the lenses come out of the case covered in fine red fuzz! Annoying to say the least. They do offer good shock protection however.
