Infinite Posted March 17, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 17, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) According to the manual, in record mode the histogram should be understood as a "tendency display", and not a representation of the exact numbers of pixels. I have set picture contrast to low in order to have a better dynamic range when viewing the histogram. Of course I use RAW, but I wonder, is the histogram based on an internal representation of the raw file or based on the JPG camera file? Thanks..... Advertisement Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Hi Infinite, Take a look here X1 Record Histogram. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
wda Posted March 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted March 18, 2010 Infinite, the latter. Further, when shooting RAW, capture ignores any in-camera adjustments. It records every scrap of information to give you maximum quality. The LCD histogram is merely that relating to the low-res JPEG required for review. It is only an indication of the ultimate quality you could retrieve.
