tdtaylor Posted March 18, 2010 Share #21 Posted March 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) A great new undocumented feature is that if you have auto-power-off set at say 1 min to conserve battery life not only does it shut the camera down when idle as before but now it also will shut power off without warning as you navigate the menus or browse images (even while pressing the control buttons). What a great new feature! The guys at Leica are so creative when it comes to power management strategies... ;-) Have been running into this playing with the new firmware. Not the worst thing in the world, but kind of a PITA. Shouldn't be an issue in normal operating mode.
Advertisement Posted March 18, 2010 Posted March 18, 2010 Hi tdtaylor, Take a look here Undocumented firmware improvements. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
yanidel Posted March 18, 2010 Author Share #22 Posted March 18, 2010 I found the reason for the confusion. It is only in the German part of the manual, page 25 : Aus, 1s, 3s,5s, dauerhaft (=hold), Ausloser gedruckt (=press shutterbutton). Somehow the last option got lost in the English version on page 113. also missing in the French manual ... mystery solved. Well at least I feel I got something additional in the firmware update
tuscland Posted March 18, 2010 Share #23 Posted March 18, 2010 I'm not sure if that was already present in the previous firmware, but when you are reviewing a picture, and if you hold Play button and use the arrows to navigate, it will change the picture while keeping the same zoom and location settings. I find this feature very useful when it comes to compare several pictures.

I find this feature very useful when it comes to compare several pictures. This is indeed convenient but is has been there for a long time, since the M8.
