Well, the 35 Summilux has been offered in chrome in the past. The last entry in the Leica lists I find is from Oct. 2004. I am not sure about 2005, but there is only a the black version in the list of Jan 2006. They introduced a chrome version of the 28-cron in 2009. The 35-cron and the 50-lux come in chrome. A chrome 35mm Summilux is not improbable therefore.

The 28 cron, while being finished in a chrome like offering, is not a typical Leica chrome silver lens. It uses an aluminum focusing helicoid while the chrome silver lenses use brass. This brass helicoid is also what contributes to the heavier weight of chrome silver lenses.

The 35 Lux, in chrome silver, has been reported by many as being basically immune from the back focus issues when stopping down compared to the black-aluminum lenses. Not enough data for surety but mine works beautifully and many others reported the same thing.
