Alnitak Posted March 13, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 13, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I got an email a week and a half ago that my X1 came in, but I had to turn it down as I am out of the country for an extended period of time, and I didn't want to deal with all the all of the customs issues, etc. Anyway, I decided today to head over to the Leica shop in Mayfair, London and take a look at an X1 again, since the last time I saw one was in October, when it was in the very early beta stages. So, what did I see? Well, the AF has definitely improved. I personally never thought it was too slow in the first version I saw, but its faster now. There are a couple of "Hi-speed" AF settings that sacrifice some precision for speed. In my little bit of time with the camera in the shop, the accuracy and speed were very good, and the shop was quite dark. Here are a few samples from ISO 800-3200 from the shop. Leica X1 - a set on Flickr I think that the high-ISO performance is excellent for such a small camera. That will be perhaps the most unique feature of this camera--such a huge sensor in such a small package. The performance in the ISO department is much, much better than either the EP-1 or GF-1.
