jpattison Posted March 10, 2010 Share #1 Posted March 10, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Anybody thinking of going to the S2 workshop in Manchester, in April? There's going to be an M9 seminar as well, also the D1200 projector will be there. I think its at the Renaissance Hotel, room set up as a studio, with models to photograph. Could be part of a Manchester meet! John

stunsworth Posted March 14, 2010 Share #3 Posted March 14, 2010 Andy, it looks as if it will be on Saturday the 24th of April - see here... Home I'll probably be giving David a ring on Monday to book a place.
cocker Posted March 14, 2010 Share #4 Posted March 14, 2010 Not really my cup of tea. Doesn't appear to be anywhere on it to get the roll film in.
ken_tanaka Posted March 14, 2010 Share #5 Posted March 14, 2010 A question aside from the main topic... Doesn't Manchester seem an unlikely location for a promo for such an expensive gadget? My impression is that Manchester is one of England's most depressed cities, rather like our Detroit.
andybarton Posted March 14, 2010 Share #6 Posted March 14, 2010 Manchester is England's second city. There are more millionaires within 20 radius than anywhere else in the country it has the tallest residential tower in Britain, if not Europe and remains pretty prosperous, even in these straightened times there was a documentary about Detroit on the tv here yesterday. It looks like something out of the opening sequence from The Terminator. Some sort of post-apocalyptic wasteland. That's as far removed from Manchester as you can get. stunsworth Posted March 15, 2010 Share #7 Posted March 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've just spoken to David Stephens. The dates are yet to be finalised - though it's possible that it'll still been the 24th of April. They are aiming the course at people who are likely to be potential S2 costumers - which probably rules me out. They are hoping to run another M9 workshop later this year. Hope that's of interest. wattsy Posted March 18, 2010 Share #14 Posted March 18, 2010 There are more millionaires within 20 radius than anywhere else in the country. Sounds like a classic piece of Mancunian cobblers. It's true that you have all those Coronation Street actors and footballers cluttering up the Cheshire suburbs but a 20 mile radius from the City of London includes large swathes of the home counties and I simply don't believe that you won't find more millionaires there (don't forget the crooked billionaire oligarchs, 'royalty', chinless descendants of those who appropriated most of the land four or five centuries ago, plus all the other ludicrously over-rich undesirables who live in the swankier parts of town). As for the "second city" tag, nobody from overseas should be confused that it makes Manchester like Chicago or Los Angeles. I know that a lot of development has gone on in Manchester since I lived there in the 1990s but that doesn't hide the fact that it is still a small and provincial city. cocker Posted March 18, 2010 Share #15 Posted March 18, 2010 that doesn't hide the fact that it is still a small and provincial city. For which, much thanks. We don't want it turning into the s**t-hole that is London.
