j. borger Posted December 17, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 17, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have an apointment for my camera to be picked up january 2nd for the hardware fix..... but seeing the set of new issues i wonder if i would not better leave it as it is ... so perhaps waite another couple of months .............. i would not like to send it in again in a couple of months........ the more i think about it the more i lean towards canceling the pick-up ................... I hardley get into the streaking issue now, using it for real world shooting .... so perhaps it might only get worse with the fix. Any thoughts Somebody out there thinking the same? wattsy Posted December 17, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 17, 2006 I think I will cancel my arranged pick-up. I'm broadly happy with my M8 as it stands (apart from the IR sensitivity issue) and in no hurry for the current 'fix'.
reven Posted December 17, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 17, 2006 Leica really should act soon. BUT MORE Important plz think carefully before you act, because a wrong decision now could be the death of the M8... As much as I really love to get one. Already paid for it... still waiting. I won't accept these problems. Ok FIlters suck, but they are still ok.. but not if you get all kinds of diffrent problems with a new 5000$ Camera, sorry, but that works, for a few out here. BUT NOT for normal people. AND Leica needs some normal people (With to much money ^^ ) to buy a M8.
j. borger Posted December 17, 2006 Author Share #6 Posted December 17, 2006 I think I will cancel my arranged pick-up. I'm broadly happy with my M8 as it stands (apart from the IR sensitivity issue) and in no hurry for the current 'fix'. i tend to think the same ...... never encountered the green blobs and only could reproduce the streaking by forcing it: simulating the situations where you know it will happen that is. In day to day shooting i did not loose a single shot due to the issue. If Leica does not react before thursday i will also cancel my arranged pick-up ...... and sit this out for at least another 6 months before i even consider sending it in.... there is 2 year warranty with the camera anyhow! I still have a good functioning R-D1 .. but know there will be no support the day it fails.
