Advertisement Posted March 17, 2010 Posted March 17, 2010 Hi damnsharp, Take a look here Leica ever ready case. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
grober Posted March 17, 2010 Share #22 Posted March 17, 2010 Looks ugly to my eye. I have and love the lower cost "leather transport case" for my X1. I use a wrist strap on the camera and have no problems using two hands to hold and use the camera. The Leica grip is extra weight and size I just don't want. Of course, everything might change when my backordered but now-shipping 36mm viewfinder gets here next week. A camera wearing its Leica v/f won't fit in my existing case . . . what to do? Carry the v/f separately I guess. -g
damnsharp Posted March 17, 2010 Author Share #23 Posted March 17, 2010 .....Of course, everything might change when my backordered but now-shipping 36mm viewfinder gets here next week. A camera wearing its Leica v/f won't fit in my existing case . . . what to do? Carry the v/f separately I guess. -g And that's exactly my problem I like the leather case a lot. In a week or so I get a leather hand strap. I also have bought a 35mm VF but how to carry that? I have it now in a small fabric cover but this is far from ideal. And there is no good solution for it. I thought of selling the leather case but what then. I love the looks of the Luigi case but than my camera isn't fully protected so not an ideal solution. Maybe a little leather box for the VF and attach it somehow to the leather case.
larbel Posted March 17, 2010 Share #24 Posted March 17, 2010 I wrote A&A a couple days ago about X1 cases, this is when I got in reply!! "Many thanks for contacting Artisan & Artist. In regard to your query, a half case for the Leica X1 has just gone into production and will be available from the beginning of next month. In addition, a case for the same camera with the hand grip attached will be available soon after that."
damnsharp Posted March 17, 2010 Author Share #25 Posted March 17, 2010 An Artisan & Artist half case looks nice but not so nice in my opinion than a Luigi case. But still, no full protection. Besides I don't want a hand grip.

Or a lot easier, instruct its browser to not load any pictures, and voila!

damnsharp Posted March 20, 2010 Author Share #28 Posted March 20, 2010 On topic now I still don´t have a good alternative for a case when I use a VF on the X1. I think Stephen´s choice is the best option but that Leica case is outdated and it is not a ready case. I looked on eBay but no luck. I am wondering. Is there allready someone who has the Luigi half case? The biggest problem with that case is that whole camera is not protected. And the Leica ever ready case is also not an option for me because you still have to put the VF on the camera when you open the case. Stupid, the leather case I have is fine but not a ready case and I still have to carry the VF in my coat pocket or so.

(They forgot to 'phone to tell me) That's nice. But they said no other accessories - perhaps next month
