wparsonsgisnet Posted December 16, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 16, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) OK, I've registered my M8 and, based on reading posts I'm expecting to get a 30%-off offer directly from Leica. I hope it's a certificate that I can use at the dealer because I've got a credit there as well. I have 24mm f2.8 asph, 35 f1.4 asph, 50 f1.4 asph, DR (for whatever good it does me), 75 f1.4, and 90 f2.0. I prefer low light lenses, obviously. I am thinking about a 28 since Sean thinks they are a natural with the M8, and, based on the images in his review of the 28's, I prefer the 2.0 asph to the new 2.8 asph. I will be looking at a 90mm-R lens shortly, to use with the R-to-M converter. Any suggestions? (What a silly question on this Forum) Tnx,

abrewer Posted December 16, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 16, 2006 Heavens Bill! You already have a collection worthy of a prince! Seriously, I think your interest in the 28 'Cron ASPH is very savant. That's the lens I would want for an M8 personally. Hell, that's the next lens I want for my MP! Thanks. Guest guy_mancuso Posted December 16, 2006 Share #3 Posted December 16, 2006 Bill i have a lot of lenses so far 15CV,all leica here on 21,24,28 f2,35 1.4,50,1.4, 75 cron, 90 elmarit. okay jamie just bought my 24mm but I think the lens on the body all the time is the 28 f2. i went with the f2 for several reasons, one it is extrmely good but second was it is the fastest wide angle on the body , plus if it is onn the body in place of the body cap it will be a quick out of the bag and get it lens so one reason I went the F2 on the 28mm. PLUS the 28mm has the nicest frame line and i can keep the magnifer on ALL the time. So from 28mm up the magnifer is on . The 21mm i use just for focus but a external finder and the 15mm is just guess at it and screw the finder. This makes everythingfast for moe. Now the 24mm is the one lens i love , I mean love the quality but to use it I had to remove the magnifer, i will get it again down the road but i just had too many to close and frankly still do but right now this makes a great kit and the 28mm f2 is the one lens ON the camera all the time. Something to think about. On my second body the 50 lux is there. My spelling stinks today , woke up to early
wparsonsgisnet Posted December 16, 2006 Author Share #4 Posted December 16, 2006 All, I feel like a prince. I've been collecting these lenses for a l-o-n-g time. I'm waiting to hear back from the dealer about the price on the new 28, but Guy, I agree about the 'cron -- and so must Sean, based on my viewing of his 28 review. rob_x2004 Posted December 16, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 16, 2006 What is the 30% off? Isnt there going to be an across the board lens price hike January? I dont know, I am asking. For what the info is worth, I was advised a price for a lens Nov/Dec, but it wasnt available. The last advice I got was availabilty mid Jan, and, guess how much the price had moved? sean_reid Posted December 17, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 17, 2006 Yes, all things considered...if money is no object, I'd say the 28 Summicron Asph. One downside is that it blocks the frame lines a bit. Cheers, Sean
