Leica X1 und IR?

Hallo Leute,

MfG

Michael

Hi everybody,

sorry, I posted this German version in the international forum, so here is the English version:

I was wondering whether somebody has tried some Infrared shots with the Leica X1?

True, it does not have a thread on the lens to fit an Infrared filter on it, but one could simply hold the filter in front of the lens while taking the picture.

I am just interested in how the X1 blocks IR-light and if it is suitable for Infrared.

Thanks for answers!

Cheers

Michael

Hi Michael,

I just tried a 89-B IR filter - the exposure time went to 15 sec on a bright day with F2.8, ISO 100. Seems X1 does block the IR. The resulting image became artsy considering the camera shake with such a long exposure :)

Regards,

Igor

Hi Igor,

thanks for the information! 15 sec with f/2.8 is really disappointing from the IR-point of view. I managed to get IR-shots done with 1 sec and f/8 on my Canon EOS 5D and Canon cameras are in general known to be not that ideal for Infrared.

But hopefully the overall image quality of the X1 will make up for it.I don't have the camera yet, but it should be shipped soon.

Cheers

Michael
