sanyasi Posted February 26, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 26, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I am looking at the Benro Travel Angel as a possible tripod for travel. I would like to use it with the M9 and and a Canon 5d Mark II. Does anyone have any experience with the this tripod and the M9, particularly using it in combination with a digital SLR? Thanks Jack Siegel
Advertisement Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Hi sanyasi, Take a look here Benro Travel Angel and the M9. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gwelland Posted February 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2010 I use the Gitzo 1550T which I find is ideal for a lightweight travel tripod that can if necessary hold a Nikon D3s & 70-200VR if necessary. (I replaced the head with a RRS BH-25). I've used this for several years now with both M8 & M9. I see no reason at all why the Benro shouldn't provide a similar level of performance sine the design looks so similar. If you are worried about stability you just need to hang a bag underneath the tripod.
mrphotog Posted February 27, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 27, 2010 I just bought a Gitzo 1541t and added a RRS BH30 (new product for RRS) - I think the combo is great. I looked at the BH25 a while ago and didn't like it since it had only one control for pan and lock. the BH30 has independent pan and lock control and is small enough to fit with the 1541t. LuxBob Posted February 27, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 27, 2010 Feisol is a small Austrian company making good quality tripods at competitive prices. They have a US distributor - FEISOL CT-3441S with Center Column and a Tripod Bag

I like the look of the BH-30 vs my BH-25!
ianspector Posted February 27, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 27, 2010 I bought the insanely small and light Gitzo GT0541 together with the Gitzo G1077M ballhead. The advantage is that this combo does not require a plate on the M9 and is very rigid. Ian
henkv Posted February 27, 2010 Share #7 Posted February 27, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have the Gitzo Carbon G1128 tripod (1200 gram) and the Gitzo G1177M ballhead (310 gram). Small and light. Enough for the M9.
d2mini Posted February 27, 2010 Share #8 Posted February 27, 2010 The Benro is the smallest out of all the other ones mentioned by far. I'd go with the Benro for the M9. If it can handle a big dslr, which it looks like it can, it should be a perfect travel tripod for the M9.
tdtaylor Posted February 27, 2010 Share #9 Posted February 27, 2010 I have the Gitzo Carbon G1128 tripod (1200 gram) and the Gitzo G1177M ballhead (310 gram). Small and light. Enough for the M9. I just weighed my Gitzo GT2541/Markins TB-21 Vibration Plate, and a Markins Q Ball Q3 and it is just 1710 grams for a rock solid setup I can get to eye level that has a 27 lb capacity. I use a 5 Series with Wimberly for my long lenses, but this setup will handle anything I can put on it 200mm and less- and it easily fits in my suitcase. I had a lighter setup, and it was considerably affected by wind. By the way, Feisol was Chinese owned- have owned several. Good tripods for the money. Was it sold?
