Transferability of guaranty.

Conflicted or not, I REALLY DON'T CARE as I'm not one who buys and then sells my Leica gear on a regular basis.

I plan to keep my new 50 Lux ASPH way beyond its passport and warranty period. And the same for when I get my long awaited M9. The last time I got rid of any of my leica gear was when I traded-in some older lenses and a M4-2 to update for what I have currently owned for at least 10 years now. AND all of the Leica M mount lenses I have bought in the past 5 years were either New-with-Warranty with no plan to sell them any time soon, or carefully considered older lenses past their warranty period. Oh, and a demo M8 with a 1 year factory warranty that I'm keeping as a companion & back-up for the M9, (whenever it gets to me ). Also, I see no point in buying used Leica gear that's only 2 or 3 years old since the price is Usually so close to new that I'd rather just buy new. If I were a penny pincher, I wouldn't be buying Leica in the first place. (Not to say that I would pass up a real bargain)

So, no poor 2nd hand buyer will have to worry about a factory warranty, USA or Solms, or other, for any gear I might sell in the Near or Distant future, because it will be old enough to be out of the warranty period and priced accordingly.

AS STATED BEFORE: I was merely TRYING to add to the information pool with data from a recent Leica USA warranty card.

AND: Please take this as JUST more information and NOT intended to support OR refute anyone else's post.

FPS (for Pete's sake).... lighten up everybody ! :)

Later,

Glenn
