Advertisement Posted February 26, 2010 Posted February 26, 2010 Hi mzcloud, Take a look here Canon 1.4/50mm LTM for m8?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
brianv Posted February 26, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 26, 2010 I have not used mine on the M8 yet, just bought a fairly hard to find Canon brand 48mm Hot Mirror filter. I have used it a fair bit on my film cameras, including the M3 and M2. Going rate is $250~$350. They are on the large size, hence the 48mm filter. They used some very advanced (for the day) low-dispersion glass and kept the classic 1-2-2-1 configuration, rare for an F1.4 lens. Canon 50/1.4, wide-open, on the M3: At F4, on the M3:
brianv Posted February 26, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 26, 2010 Nikkor 5cm F1.4 in LTM, on the M3, same roll of film: At F1.4 Tight Crop: Nikkor 5cm F1.4 at F4: The Nikkor is a SOnnar formula lens, and runs roughtly the same price. Uses 43mm filters.
brianv Posted February 26, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 26, 2010 Nikkor on the M8: Zeiss User Forums - Brian's Album: Nikkor 5cm F1.4 on the M8 I will be doing the same type of album with the Canon 50/1.4 in the next week or two. Weather permitting!
mabelsound Posted February 27, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 27, 2010 I'll be shooting this combination a lot in the next week too. My uv/ir should arrive tomorrow or Monday. People have compared it favorably to the 'lux here on the intertubes. I've never owned the latter but the film shots I have gotten with it so far are very impressive. brianv Posted February 28, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 28, 2010 I used the Canon 50/1.4 with 48mm Hot Mirror filter on the M8 today, walk around the neighborhood. Zeiss User Forums - Brian's Album: CANON 50/1.4 on the Leica M8 The downside of this lens is the 3.5foot minimum focus. Most LTM 50mm lenses get into 3ft, including the Canon 50/1.2.
