ozdavid Posted December 14, 2006 Share #1 Posted December 14, 2006 Advertisement (gone after registration) For a couple of weeks I've been trying to access the Caplan website. Richard is a dealer with whom I have dealt with happily in Bury Street London and he is holding a black paint SL on consignment from me. Recent emails have not been responded too nor has the website opened up. This morning, there was a notice that the website was now unavailable. Does anyone know what is going on? Is Richard still in business? Located as I am in Melbourne Australia, it is a little hard to find out what is happening and I'd be grateful for any information anyone can offer. Advertisement Posted December 14, 2006 Posted December 14, 2006 Hi ozdavid, Take a look here What has happened to Richard Caplan?. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
gravastar Posted December 15, 2006 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2006 Hi David, If I'd read this earlier I would have called into his shop when I was in London today. It does look as if his website is now back on line. He may just have been having service provider problems. If you have any difficulty PM me and I'll see if I can find anything out. ozdavid Posted December 15, 2006 Author Share #3 Posted December 15, 2006 Dear Bob, Thank you.for responding so quickly. The website does now seem to be back. I'll try emailing Richard and see if I have more luck. Thank you too for your offer of assistance. David
stunsworth Posted December 15, 2006 Share #4 Posted December 15, 2006 Why not telephone the shop? That seems the way to get a definitive answer. You can always use Sykpe if you felt the call from Oz was too expensive using a landline.
marknorton Posted December 15, 2006 Share #5 Posted December 15, 2006 Their lens prices are frightening - £2418 ($4760) for a Noctilux...
nf3996 Posted December 15, 2006 Share #6 Posted December 15, 2006 The shop is still there. I was in there last week (looking for a Leica 39mm UV filter, which they'd run out of). They're my second-favourite Leica shop in London (RG Lewis is my favourite), and are always helpful and friendly, even if their prices are a bit on the high side.
