Any Short U.S. Dealer Waiting LIsts?

I've been reading the comments on this list for months regarding supply. Doesn't sound like it is improving and I don't see any one dealer as having an inside track. Looks like if you go with one of the big Lecia dealers, you will be on a relatively long list, but they get larger quantities. If you go with a very small dealer, you may luck out and be on a short list of one when they get their one M9 in.

Bottom line: The sooner you get in the queue, the sooner you will get the camera. For my money, I'd go with one of the dealers who is a large supplier. I'd also go with one of the non-Internet dealers. The big Internet dealers are great on price for many items, but you are forgotten after you place the order. If I am going to pay full price, I might as well get to know a good sales person who can answer questions after the purchase and provide other assistance.

Try Kenmore Camera in Kenmore, WA (kenmorecamera.com). A couple of weeks ago someone on this forum posted that they saw an M9 on their website. I called them immediately and yes, they had one! Obviously no waiting list. I bought it on the phone (I wasn't about to trust the possible delay booking online). So, maybe their waiting list is short--if they even have one. Their website shows "on backorder" right now. But I would give them a call.

Good luck.

I bought my M9 from Bear Images in Palo Alto, California. Waited about 4 weeks. Bear is a new Leica dealer. Mainly stocks high-end professional gear: Phase One, etc. Extremely knowledgeable and helpful staff. You can find them on the web.
