Vertical Line Problem, Out of Warranty M8 Help

I was doing a bit of large format printing of several M8 files and discovered the sinister line of dead pixels running down the right of the frame. These were high ISO files, which I rarely ever use, and it sparked me to look at some of my older shot and, you guessed it, it's there in every shot--faint, but undeniable.

So, here's my question. I bought my M8 in 2007 and it's long out of warranty. Any advice on how to go about getting it repaired? Since this is such a well documented problem, is this something they will do for free? Finally, does anyone know who to email or call to have the best luck?

i had a similar problem with my mine: a vertical line visible about 1/3 from the left of the frame and only visible in pictures shot with iso640 and above.

i printed out some samples with iso640, iso1250 and iso2500, left the original DNGs on the SD-card in the camera and sent the body including the paperwork to leica customer service in solms.

few days ago i received my camera fully repaired and cleaned at no cost although the camera was out of warranty. i also received a detailed report on what has been done and a short notice, that they feel very sorry this has happened at all.

well done - and a big thumbs up for leica customer service from my side! thanks!

Mine was fixed by Leica NJ, with intercession from my dealer, PopFlash, last May, well over a year after purchase. I did feel a bit embarrassed not to have discovered the line earlier; still, thanks to this site for giving me reason to look for it! The camera had been a "demo"... PopFlash asked me to send the camera to them, and they faxed a service request to Leica NJ. Then I got a phone call from a nice NJ lady who asked me to describe the matter, which she clearly found familiar. I gather she gave PopFlash the OK to send it in. Without further fuss, the camera came back fixed at no charge. I feel that dealer help was important in smoothing the process. Thanks, Tony!

And, since there were a lot of shots showing this vertical line, I have gone back to edit the previously processed TIFF files to eliminate it. I view the file full size, Select ALL, and move the right selection border just left of the line, then hit the right arrow to move the selection one pixel rightward to close up the line. The fix is not noticeable, as if the line had not existed. However this doesn't work if the image has already been rotated slightly or skewed...
