Guest ccmsosse Posted February 23, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 23, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Following the threads on this forum, I bought a used (looks near mint) LEICA TELE-ELMAR 135mm f/4 for << $400 from Adorama. But as expected the lens is not accurately focusing with my M9 rangefinder. Do I need to send it in (M9+135) or can I adjust the lens myself...? Or if I need to send the M9 in, should I then send in all my other lenses too (24/35/50/50/75/90) ?? Greetings

Greetings Sorry for answering my own post - I put the M9 + 135 on a tripod and then tried multiple shots ... and it is right on - so no need to send it in for adjustment - I forgot about the 1/135 rule and lack on image stabilization of M9 (coming from the Olympus and Panasonic cameras). But either way - could one adjust the lens (or rangefinder) or would that be insane...?
sclamb Posted February 23, 2010 Share #3 Posted February 23, 2010 Sorry for answering my own post - I put the M9 + 135 on a tripod and then tried multiple shots ... and it is right on - so no need to send it in for adjustment - I forgot about the 1/135 rule and lack on image stabilization of M9 (coming from the Olympus and Panasonic cameras). But either way - could one adjust the lens (or rangefinder) or would that be insane...? I did the same thing! I wondered why shots with the 135mm were not sharp and then realised they were at 1/30s and the old 1/focallength rule still applies even to rangefinders. Once I set shutter speed to 1/125s all was well. Simon
