DennisM Posted February 22, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 22, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) The literature talks about a 24-60 mm focal length (in 35mm photog) and a 2.5x optical / 4x digital zoom. Are those 2.5x & 4x zoom multipliers applied to the 60mm focal length or what? DennisM
Advertisement Posted February 22, 2010 Posted February 22, 2010 Hi DennisM, Take a look here D-LUX 4 zoom. I'm sure you'll find what you were looking for!
Ed_K Posted February 22, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 22, 2010 The 60mm focal length is already part of the 2.5x optical zoom formula, but not the digital zoom which is basically an enlargement of the central portion of your frame; hope that clarifies your query. DennisM Posted February 22, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 22, 2010 Thanks for your speedy reply. I was verbose. I want to know if I'm limited to 60mm focal length if I buy a D-LUX 4.
Ed_K Posted February 22, 2010 Share #4 Posted February 22, 2010 Unfortunately yes, this is one of the disadvantage of Dlux-4 having a rather short zoom range compare to other competition, unless you want to add an accessory lens in front which then will be another story. DennisM Posted February 22, 2010 Author Share #5 Posted February 22, 2010 " unless you want to add an accessory lens in front which then will be another story.", you said. Could we explore the possibility of this "accessory lens? Would it degrading the image significantly? Does Leica make a accessory lens? Is Is there anything else you think is pertinent? Ed_K Posted February 22, 2010 Share #6 Posted February 22, 2010 Not from Leica but i think Panasonic do make them and so does a few 3rd party ones. As to whether it will affect the quality, i could not tell you because mine is the basic set up, you might like to search the digital part of this forum to see how other Dlux-4 users like their accessory lens.
