snajczuk Posted February 18, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I have always used a flash with my Nikon setup. (when needed) Being new to the M9, I am soliciting feedback from the forum on your thoughts of the M9 with flash. Thank you.

Jerry_R Posted February 18, 2010 Share #2 Posted February 18, 2010 What can I say? I just started recently enjoying SF-58 on M9 - in situations when needed. It only initially looks big. For Nikon user - size shouldn't be a case. I prefer to use flash than increase ISO (unless B&W) and have paper DOF. At least in some situations. It also helps to freeze movemment. The only thing it lacks - is HSS support. In order to use flash outside during day, with wide aperture - you need to use ND filters. Interesting is, that it is M9 non supporting HSS, not flash itself. If want - you can send me your email, so I will forward you few samples. PS: There is also one weak aspect - once flash attached - you won't attach external viewfinder to the hot-shoe. Fortunately - so far - it wasn't an issue for me, as most often I can imagine the frame I expect. Even on 15mm. This was sth I was afraid most. Looks that unnecesary. But maybe for some it can be an issue or stopper. You can also consider keeping flash out of camera using sync cable. Then you can attach viewfinder, few centimeters above hot-shoe. I haven't tried that. Best Regards, Jerry_R
