Laica Posted February 15, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) Hi, I use the Elinchrom EL-skyport system but somehow the transmitter does not fit in the hot shoe. Anyone else have the same problem ? I managed to push it half way in.

Laica Posted February 15, 2010 Author Share #3 Posted February 15, 2010 Thanx !! I was afraid to break the socket eventually. Managed to push it in now. It sticks out 3mm though. BTW, liked your portfolio
Laica Posted February 15, 2010 Author Share #4 Posted February 15, 2010 Can somebody confirm that it's not possible to shoot faster than the flash sync ? Shutter speeds higher than the flash sync doesn't trigger the flash. Kind of weird and very disappointing if it is true.

Kind of weird and very disappointing if it is true. It's been a long time since I last used a flash with my M (probably it was the M8), but with higher speeds, the flash trigger indeed, it is just that it's not sync for what I know, but that's not weird, that's known. No, thats the weird thing. Set shutter speed to 1/125 or slower an the skyports trigger the flash. Set it to 1/160 or faster and the flash does not trigger. Maybe its made to be that way? thrice Posted February 16, 2010 Share #10 Posted February 16, 2010 Yep the flash won't fire at <1/180s (sync speed). For the obvious reason that you won't get the light in the frame.
brill64 Posted February 16, 2010 Share #11 Posted February 16, 2010 i've used my m9 pretty successfully with an el skyport transmitter at 1/180sec. this is the fastest flash sync speed for the m8.2/m9. make sure the battery in the transmitter is okie, that it's switched on and set to the correct channel. I have occasionally found this set up stops working for no apparent reason but removing the transmitter, switching it off, replacing it and switching it on resolves it. i've yet to work out why this happens. with your m9 set to auto, check that your shutter speed is not above 1/180th. furthermore, if you have an m8 classic, it's max flash sync speed is 1/250th sec. after a few times of inserting and removing the transmitter from the flash shoe, it gets easier. the flash shoe is very strong so be brave enough to get it in there and wiggle it out to remove:)
