Marquinius Posted February 14, 2010 Share #1 Posted February 14, 2010 Advertisement (gone after registration) I've seen a lot of threads on this forum about B&W conversion and they really helped me to become better and better at getting that specific tonality that makes a B&W stand out. On the web generically, we also can find tutorials galore. Some of them good, some of them too simple, some of them at the edge of professional wisdom. I'm starting out a list of URL's about B&W conversion; feel free to add your finds, discuss, point out, whatever. Here's a starter: Adobe Photoshop Tutorial | Adobe Lightroom | Black and White | Develop Module | Layers Magazine Gorman-Holbert Conversion Method

Peter.S Posted February 15, 2010 Share #5 Posted February 15, 2010 Good idea, here is my contribution: I found below link that links to many other sites all around Black & White conversions etc. Tutorial 05: Converting a Color Image to Black and White grayscale BW - RetouchPRO I am also interested in links about improving tonal range, adding grain in a more realistic way, toning etc etc. Of course not the standard Photoshop explanations; I like the more detailed descriptions/methods that give you all the control you could ever dream of. Have any of you used George DeWolfes Perceptool plugin ? Somebody gave me his book and although it did tell me a little bit about perception and how it differs from the registration by our camera's sensor it mostly was just a plug for his plugin. The plugin itself I only tried (did not buy) and although it had some interesting results it was a little bit hit and miss and you could not see what was exactly happening in Photoshop, it just presented you with an end result where you had limited control over. It did get me thinking about the ideal conversion technique, but that was the only positive thing about the book I am afraid.
