L-plate for M9

I have sent my M8 to RRS and spoken with their engineer who will make the L-plate for the M8/9. I should have the camera and an L-plate in my hands in three weeks to a month.

BTW, I was willing to do this because virtually all my M lenses are at Leica for coding. They should be back around the time RRS returns my camera. AND maybe by then I will have an M9, which has been on order for a while.

Hey Gib: I think I can speak for the whole community (who wants one), not that I am deserving to...

but THANK YOU :)

Thanks for the acknowledgements. I'll post my first impressions as soon as I get the camera and L-plate.

It's going to be interesting to see how the engineer integrates the plate with the body and whether he gives us the option of moving the camera on the plate to locate the nodal points of commonly used lenses so they pivot properly for panoramics.

I just thought I'd make a revisit and see if there were any updates on this.

I must say I went ahead with the universal L-plate from RRS at this time, simply because it'll come in handy with my other camers as well.

Where are you gib? :p

RRS has had my M8 for a little over a week. They estimated 2 weeks for design and a week for testing. I will probably wait until the middle of next week and then e-mail their engineer to see where he is with the project. I will certainly post to this thread when I hear something.

  • 2 weeks later...

Gib

I was the person who originally wrote to RRS with the M9 dedicated L plate proposal and started the threads here and at rangefinderforum to encourage others to email their support to RRS.

I'm very pleased that the forum community support and your kind loan camera, has resulted in RRS making this a reality! Thank you all!

You may be interested to know that I put the proposal to RRS and Kirkphoto at the same time. Only one company showed any interest, so you know which one to support.
